The challenge
Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) manages around 5,000 state-owned properties with over 500 employees. One of its main tasks is to ensure sustainable urban development. In recent years, the company has been confronted with a rapidly changing environment and increasingly complex challenges, such as the search for sufficient housing for refugees. Structures, processes and communication as well as work culture and innovative capacity needed to be fundamentally renewed in order to anticipate future trends and be able to react more quickly.
Idea
Over the course of a year and a half, we supported BIM in a complex change process with an open strategy approach based on the "open strategy" principle. Not only was the actual goal open, which was continuously adapted over many iterations, but also the process itself.
Implementation
Through numerous workshops, major events, small groups and online communication, we ensured that all 500 employees, stakeholders and target groups were involved at various levels and were able to actively participate.
Result
The result was a jointly developed new strategy that was supported and disseminated by a cultural change and is therefore geared towards sustainability and effectiveness. Armed with the new strategy, the future can come!
