The challenge

How can the rivalry between major powers be prevented from escalating into open military conflict? Together with the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg, the Körber Foundation has developed 19 recommendations for the future of strategic stability. The topic is just as complex as it sounds. The site therefore has to convey a lot of content, but still be exciting and appeal to two main target groups in equal measure: policy makers and "Spiegel Online readers".

Idea

An interactive scrollytelling website! In a conception workshop, we developed the modules together with the program managers and determined what is crucial for the narrative of the topic: from the problem situation and country perspectives to political recommendations and solutions.

Implementation

A concise introduction leads the specialist audience directly to the recommendations for action and picks up the politically interested public with building blocks worth knowing. A clever media mix makes the abstract topic tangible and authentic, e.g. through audio statements by experts from around the world. The design emphasizes the topic and its urgency. Varied elements and seamless transitions tell the story chapter by chapter until the decisive resolution at the end.

Result

An informative and interactive online experience that makes a complex and abstract topic tangible and understandable. Get into the story: https://www.strategicstability.org
